Tools for Sims 2 Fan Artists
The Sims 2 Body Shop
Maxis will release The Sims 2 Body Shop in May 2004
The Sims 2 Body Shop
This is the first designer tool from Maxis for The Sims. They plan to release it even before the game is published this summer.
The Sims 2 Body Shop is the commercial release of CaSIE (Create-a-Sim Independent Editor), which is currently undergoing beta test by several sims artists. With this stand-alone application you can change your sims' hair styles, hair color and tints, skin tones, and everything else. You can even add face paint and tattoos.
You also can change the shape of the sims' faces without having to resort to an external 3D application. Body Shop enables you to change features such as the length of the sim's nose, thickness of the eyebrows, and the shape of the chin.
You will still need an image editing program to create custom clothing skins, but these can be put on the character in The Sims 2 Body Shop.
The parts are independent, so you can mix and match tops and bottoms, and use images for both tattoos and clothing decorations.
Characters created with the program can be exported so that you can put them on your web site for others to import into their games.
This application lets you change the appearance of sims, but it doesn't change the basic character traits. To modify sims' personalities and family lines, you will need to use the create-a-sim function in the game.
